 This is a holiday you can do on your own while learning a craft,

4-day Residential spinning and Natural dying course at Shanafaraghaun Lough Na Fooey.

 This course is suitable for beginners to the more experienced. over 18 only

We will be starting with washing the fleece (I have plenty of wool to pick from here but it’s more special if you have your own wool or neighbours wool)

Throughout the week we will be carding, spinning, plying, and gathering the natural dyes. Please bring any knitting needles or patterns with you to do some knitting in the evenings

We will start around 9.30 till 4 each day, but if you’re out for a walk before class enjoy it and start when you’re ready. The old home house is right next door to the workshop so you can continue working away in the evening if you like.

WHAT TO BRING:

• Meals are not included, please bring whatever food you need because the nearest shop is about 8 miles away,

• Old comfy clothes for the workshop

• Fleeces of wool if you have them don’t worry I’ve got loads

• If you have a spinning wheel. even if it’s not working bring it and we might be able to get it going

• Your knitting needles etc.

• We have plenty of wellies but if you want to do a bit of hiking bring your walking boots

• Your favourite tea bags/coffee and mug, the stove is always on

• If you play music bring your instruments, you never know where there will be a session

  
  

ACCOMMODATION

The accommodation is the old home house next door, this is not a holiday home, it’s used by family at the weekend but it’s very cozy and it has the most amazing views. It has a small stove in both the sitting room and Kitchen. The house is exactly as it was built a long time ago so it’s not modern it’s very basic, but it does have central heating.

The kitchen has a Gas cooker, Sink, Fridge, Microwave, kettle, toaster, and all pots pans plates, etc. There are 3 bedrooms so everyone has their own room, 1 bathroom. There is a freezer and washing machine in the shed.

PRICE

The 4-day residential course is 350 Euro. The non-residential course is 280 Euro (there is a lot of accommodations in the area).

The course starts on the Tuesday but if possible to come on the Monday afternoon/evening just to get settled in. The house is available from the Monday before the course at 4 pm, ( sometimes we get the wool soaking the night before it makes washing so much easier) and the course finishes Friday at 4 pm

And there is no mobile phone coverage but there is internet in the accomodation.
